CHILDREN'S DAY WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29TH
NO
ACADEMICS
Wednesday,
October 29, is a Unification Church Holy day called Children's Day. Out
of respect for the founding families at New
Hope, the PreK3-12th will have a
celebratory, non-academic day. Families may choose to send their children
to school or keep them home on that day.
Children's
Day honors "One Family of God's People"; God as the Parent of
mankind; the position of children within the family and the effort to fulfill
our potential as God's sons and daughters.
An
all school morning service is held for all grades PreK3-12th, from
9:00-9:30 in the Multipurpose Room. It is followed by a celebratory day
of games, sports and fun.
A
Korean lunch of Bulgogi (Korean Marinated Beef), rice, salad, kim chee (spicy
hot red peppered cabbage) and cupcakes will be available for $4.00 for children
ages 3-9, and $6.00 for ages 10-adult. Please sign up and pay, in the
office, no later than Wednesday, October 29. Parents are invited to join
their children for lunch or morning service to celebrate "Children's
Day". Parent volunteers to help with class games or cooking are greatly
appreciated. Call the office for details.
ADOPT AN INFANT SIMULATOR
The Health Department at New Hope Academy will be sponsoring an adoption
program for Infant Simulators. In a constant effort to enhance the health
curriculum we are introducing a child care/responsibility section. Simulators will be programmed by instructors
for different behaviors at preset times. Our hope is that this will give
students a more realistic view of parenthood and reduce any chances of
pre-marital pregnancies. These simulators will be the property of New Hope Academy and will remain on the schools
premises when not in use.
If you are interested in donating to this
exciting new program please contact Carol Crenshaw @ 301-459-7311 ext
3008. The cost of an infant simulator is
$272. Your donation will be tax
deductible. All checks should be made
payable to New Hope
Academy with a notation
in the memo stating it is a donation to the Health Department. Families that donate a simulator will also be
able to name it! If you are unable to donate a simulator to the school please
consider making a charitable contribution to this excellent cause.
