NHA will be closed for students on Wednesday, March 25th, for
Report Card Prep for Teachers.
HAVE YOU SUBMITTED YOUR
RE-REGISTRATION PACKETS?
Re-registration
papers are due in the office to reserve your child's place for the Sept. '09 -
June '10 school year as soon as possible. Re-registration fees are now $100 (for
preschool $50). Your child will be competing for placement with all new
families who are currently applying. If
you are not re-registering your child, we need the deposit election form
indicating your choice.
NHA STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
9th GRADE STUDENT - ELLEN
ARMSTRONG PERFORMING THIS SUNDAY!
Ellen Armstrong will be performing with the Junior Philharmonic Symphony on
Sunday, March 8th at 4 pm at the THEARC, 1901 Mississippi Avenue, SE, Washington
DC 20020. They will performing "Night on Bald Mountain"
by M. Mussorgsky, a piece featured in Disney's: Fantasia. Admission is FREE.
CONGRATULATIONS TO NEW HOPE SPANISH DANCERS
NHA
Spanish Dancers auditioned for the "International World Showcase" sponsored by
Prince George Arts Council. They were chosen to participate in the show with
nine other countries. They will represent Spanish Folklore. The show is March
21 at 7:00 p m. Tickets are available at the Publick Playhouse.
NHA ORIENTATION & TOUR
SATURDAY, MARCH 21st
Join us on Saturday, March 21st for an Orientation and Tour
given by the principal for prospective families. The orientation will begin promptly at 10:00
am. We encourage current families to invite friends to attend who are looking
for a new school for their children.
Don't forget to provide your friends with a NHA introductory card
(located in the Main office or on the radiator in the lobby) with your name,
which will entitle you to a 5% tuition rebate for the first year if they
enroll.
2009 SUMMER PROGRAM IN KOREA
Students in grades 7-11 enrolled in Korean class for two years and have
averages in Korean of 3.5 or better are eligible to apply for the Summer
Program in Korea. Students can pick up a packet from Ms. Kim
the Korean Instructor. Applicants are
required to write an essay as part of the process and return it to Ms. Kim with
all applications completed no later than March 31st. Students selected for the scholarship will
only be required to pay $900 (total cost is $3,100). Applicants must also have a valid passport
for travel.

NHA would like to acknowledge Reggie Smith III who received national
recognition for "Community Service" during the 2009 Black Engineer of
the Year Awards (BEYA) Conference.
PERFORMING ARTS
Support New Hope
Players production of "Pinocchio" and support Gambia
The New Hope Players will perform "Pinocchio" on March 27, 28 (7 pm), and
29 (2 pm) at the Publick Playhouse (Cheverly). We invite your family to contact
your Sunday school, scouts or other youth groups and invite them to the show.
The musical is performed by children and emphasizes the "Power of Love" to make
anything possible. It also teaches about being truthful and the beauty of
filial piety (love of a son for his father). Tickets are available at the
theater and also at the school ($8.00/child, $10.00/adult). For more

Be a "Patron" or "Friend" of the
"New Hope Players"
& Help the Gambia
Side By Side Project
The
musical production of Pinocchio will benefit the Gambia Side By Side Project (a
scholarship program for students in Gambia,
Africa). Be a "Friend" of the New Hope Players
for a donation up to $20 or a "Patron" for donations above $20. Your name will
be listed in the program (forms available at the main office).

FIRST ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL NIGHT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!
NHA's
first Annual International Night (formerly African Caribbean Night) will be
held on Friday, May 29th. We
are in need of volunteers for different duties.
If you will be attending and will like to volunteer, please contact
Janelle or Carol in the Main Office.
