Summer Programs

Are you looking for a summer camp for your child, but would like it
even better if it were a great educational experience too? We have the
activities you would find at summer camp - weekly swimming and field
trips, arts and crafts, sports and activities, and lots of fun - plus
learning experiences through computers, cooking, drama, games,
recreational reading, etc., so that it really is a complete summer
enrichment program!
There are two kinds of full-day summer programs. Our general "Discovery
Summer" enrichment program will have swimming, arts and crafts, team
sports, field trips, and various activities, like in previous years,
when we called it a "summer camp," but we're building up and
emphasizing the discovery and enrichment dimension more now. Click on
the link below for more details.

Hope Academy's Ballet & Cultural Dance Center will have their
Spring Recital May 16 @ 7:00 p m at the Bowie Center for The Performing
Arts. Students from grades 5th to 8th will do an instrumental
demonstration (part of their music class with teacher Jonathan Andert).
Tickets are $12.00 adult & $ 8.00 child. They are available at the
school (cash or check). PROPOSED TELECOMMUNICATIONS TOWER AT NHA New
Hope Academy has been approached by T-Mobile about placing a
telecommunications tower on our school property, at the far end of the
parking lot. The representative, Michael Bowden met with the Board of
Directors two weeks ago and last week at the PTA meeting we discussed
having a meeting of anyone from the school who might have questions or
concerns that could be addressed. We
will have a meeting on Wednesday, May 6, at 6:00 in the MPR. If you
are unable to attend you can e-mail your questions to Mrs. Morrow and
she will bring them up in the meeting on your behalf. The proposal
would generate $1000 a month for NHA. Research
has been done on several websites: the FCC and American Cancer Society
to name just two. Information seems to be consistent that such a tower
projects its waves from a very high point towards the far horizon, not
downward, and thus poses no hazard to those nearby. But before
making a decision to undertake a feasibility study, we wanted to have
full information and provide parents with a chance to ask any questions
or share any concerns. The final decision will rest with the Board of Directors, but your input is needed and appreciated.
